Frequently Asked Questions

Clear, plain answers about how we evaluate workflows, our four-step pricing ladder, and what customer infrastructure ownership means in practice.

General Questions

What is the Fit Call?

The Fit Call is a free 15–20 minute technical discussion to see whether your stack has pieces worth reviewing. It is not an audit, there is no pitch deck, and we do not ask for credentials. If there is no clear fit, we tell you immediately.

Do you replace all SaaS?

No, and we will tell you when a tool should stay SaaS. Self-hosting adds hosting, maintenance and security responsibilities. Replacing commoditised, cheap software rarely makes economic sense. We only recommend building workflows where subscription fees escalate rapidly, per-seat limits penalise growth, or your processes are forced into unnatural shapes.

Who owns the result?

You own all code, configurations, data models and documentation completely upon delivery. All software is written into your repositories and deployed to infrastructure you control. You can modify, run, or transfer the code without our involvement.

Where does my data live?

Your data stays entirely in infrastructure you control (such as your own AWS, Hetzner, DigitalOcean or on-premise servers). Aethonex does not operate a shared cloud service, does not host customer databases, and never trains AI models on customer data.

What does it cost?

Our work follows a transparent four-step ladder with published test prices: the initial Fit Call is free; the SaaS & Workflow Review is £400 UK / $500 US; a bounded Workflow Pilot starts from £2,500 UK / $3,000 US based on written scope; and ongoing Care is £750 UK / $950 US a month. All prices are confirmed in writing before work begins.

What if I want you to keep it running?

We offer Care at £750 / $950 a month for systems Aethonex has built and handed over, which includes four hours of maintenance, security updates, and a monthly review. For broader ongoing development, we also offer monthly engineering plans (Starter and Growth).

Can you work with sensitive data?

We operate with strict least-privilege access and use synthetic or sanitized data during development whenever possible. However, Aethonex does not currently handle Protected Health Information (PHI) subject to HIPAA, nor do we store credit card numbers directly.
